We heard the blast. It instantly shook any sense from today and made it unreal. We were evacuated, and I noticed the Make Poverty History banner above Hamilton Hall. Somehow it’s stuck as a cruel, ironic backdrop for the day’s events. After last night it’s almost cliched. I fall in love with London again – its noise, bustle, and smells – then someone tries to break it. It’s easy to dismiss this as a force of nature, a mere act of “Evil”. But human beings did this, human beings with the same capacity for feeling and logic as you and I.
