Postcards from Narnia

Some pictures of this recent freak business that we call snow.

Beth sent me a text yesterday morning saying that the tubes weren’t running, so I fished out my camera, threw on some clothes and skipped merrily straight on over to Highgate Wood to get myself lost for ten minutes or so, before pretending to find an alternative route into work.

He was really, really thrilled to meet me

Pathetic fallacy

Wednesday 24th January, 2007

Any amateur photgrapher will know that a snow scene is a perfect opportunity for contrast.

I didn’t expect the metaphor in this to be quite so stark.

Snow scene at home:

Postcard-perfect picturesque and serene. This view from my bedroom window and outside my flat made me squeal with childish glee when I saw it.

“It’s snowing! It’s snowing in London!”

Snow scene at work:

No white pavements, no dusted trees. Just grey sludge and mud everywhere. This sight as I left Euston Station instantly rendered me utterly depressed at the prospect of another day in the office.

“It’s Wednesday. It’s Wednesday in London.”

Pictures, videos, things, stuff and more things

Monday 8th January, 2007

Hello darling readers,

I’ve finally got round to doing something about a huge backlog of photos left metaphorically lying around for, ooh, yonks. Some of these may interest you. Some of these may not. There is no real need to let me know if you are of either persuasion.

  • Christmas party / Christmas Day photos
  • Some new pictures from my stay at my dad’s in Wales with my sister, and including a Police Box inexplicably parked in my dad’s field.
  • More videos from Patrick Wolf’s recent concert at the Union Chapel. I admitted defeat as to how to correct the vids I quite foolishly took in portrait rather than landscape, so you may end up with a crooked neck from looking at some of these.
  • A few photos Jonio took recently at his work’s 1920s/30s themed bash.
  • Happy days,
